Australia Blasts In Their First Warm Up Match

On a splendidly warm day in Nottingham, Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat in the first of two warm-up fixtures scheduled for Monday.

Australia fielded a strong side, which included Andrew Symonds, Brett Lee and David Hussey, who flew to South Africa to compete in the IPL after their national duties last month in Dubai. For Bangladesh, 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Mithun Ali got his first shot at the big stage. He will not don the wicketkeeping gloves, however.
